Default 04 Carrera Tiptronic Question -- Shifting too early?

Hey All,

I have an '04 Carrera Cab. with Tiptronic shifting. I notice that even when I'm going ~30 MPH, I'm already in 4th gear. It seems to shift to 5th gear way too early. Is this expected behavior or is there some sort of issue? Is this configurable in any way by, say, the dealer?

If I really want to take off, I pretty much need to manually downshift to get the higher RPMs, take off, then up shift as necessary. Tiptronic doesn't seem to really take advantage of that at all.

Anyone experience this or able to shed any light on the subject?
