2000 911 coolant in engine

My mechanic has told me that my coolant has leaked into the engine of my 911. This was explained as of happened one of two ways. The rad/oil cooler has a leak and is mixing the two at that point or..... the piston has worn thru the liner of the engine and had the coolant leaked into the engine in that way.

Symptoms: Coolant level indictaor flashing. Added coolant (water) and drove car. No flashing on coolant indicator. Park car.
next day drove car. Coolant indictaor flash again. add more water. Drive car. Car did start to sputter idled funny. Parked car called mechanic.

mechanic suggests that car might need and new engine as this problem is rare but is known to have occured. A new engine for this Porsche is $25,000.
Yes I live in canada and everything is way more expensive here. However that seems like BS to me as the car only has 62,000 km or 40,000 miles.

I drove the car hard at times but never redlined it, or beat it down bad. Just ripped around the city like one is supposed to. Any suggestion on any solutions would be most helpful.
As well if I do need to get an entire new motor any suggestions as to where to get one and how much is one in the US. As I am assuming this is a mostly US visited site.

Hook me up people!!

RE: 2000 911 coolant in engine

Your mechanic is correct about the problem, it is rare, but does occur, usually at low mileage. It is a catastropic engine failure I am afraid if it is the case. I take it he drained the oil and found the coolant there? You haven't found any outside leaking of coolant on the ground either? I have yet to see the oil cooler seals go bad and mix the two on these engines, but not to say that it couldn't happen.

There was no coolant on the ground. I understand that the oil/coolant rad is rock solid. It is looking like like the piston sheared the block.

Do you know anywhere I can get a new motor? Used or new which is best?
