2001 996 Performance numbers please
 
i just purchased a 2001 c2 coupe 6 speed. so far after 500km the car is fine. iam sort of disappointed with the speed.

i have searched the web and porsche cant confirm any performance numbers.

0-60 ?
quarter mile : manual gearbox
top speed ? 174 mph?

please let me know.

0-60 in 4.6 seconds and quarter mile in 13.2 at 106, top speed 174: from both R&T and C&D, contemporary road tests. See it here:

By the way, it took me less than three minutes with google to find this site -- usually quicker to do it yourself rather than wait for an answer here.

thank you lee.

i found many different numbers , thats why i wanted to know if porsche had an official quarter mile time. its not important at all just was curious to know the speed numbers. it really doesnt feel as fast as those numbers. well i guess i have to try it :)

Well, 13.2 in the quatter is not slow, but a 106 trap speed is very low end in that time range. Porsches jump off the line fast so they get a head start on just about everything, but they don't have the sheer power of some others: most 13.2 cars are around 110+. What this means in the real world is that the Porsche is fast in a stoplight gran prix but on the road,once moving,it will get killed by other 13.2 cars such as a CorvetteC5 in any contest from, say, 40mph on up.

Still, they are good cars. Mine got challenged and nearly beat by a 350Z the otherday (see street strip racing threads). No big deal.
