'99 996 C4 check engine light - MAF sensor

I run a FabSpeed Cold Air Box and K&N filter. Second time in for replacement of the MAF Sensor. Shop says oil from K&N filter posibly causing problem.

Any feeback would be helpfull.

The oil on the K&N can definetely kill a maf sensor.....looking at a maf sensor the wrong way, or talking bad about it can make it go bad too......lol. Stupid design IMHO, they get replaced alot and don't stand up well. Shop is probably correct. I would spray out the filter with some brake clean to get some of the excess oil out of the filter, then put it back in the car (after drying it with an air hose very good) (and replace the maf). On our supercharger kits, we have to run a mesh wire screen between the filter and the sensor, or the turbulent air freaks out the maf...thats how delicate they are. If it was a cheap part it wouldn't be so bad since it takes all of 10 minutes to replace.
