No, you can get it with a partial drop. it is a tight fight, but still doable. R&R of the motor is about 15 hours, so that wouldn't make sense to only charge 6.5 if the motor had to come out.

ok
Thanks for all your help! My mechanic found the problem. It was indeed a bad OAS. yesterday I was looking for the fuel filter because I wanted to change it myself but I couldn't find it. could u tell me where it is?
1999 996 standard, 2 wheel drive. Is there a manual I can buy that will help me to learn to work on the car? Thanks, Karl |
Up to 2002 the fuel filter on the C2's are located in the central tunnel forward of the transaxle. On C4s, and 2002 and later they are strapped to the coolant tank.

Oas
Hi, are there 2 OAS on my 996? One for each side?? The car is still blowing lots of blue smoke when I start it and I noticed the bumper still gets cover in black residue. I'm also using about a quart of oil every 200 miles. would the OAS make the car use lots of oil? Thanks, Karl

Nope, only one OAS.
If it is still blowing smoke and using that much oil, then I was assume you have an issue with your valve train. Not the news you wanted to hear I am sure. |
hmm
yeah i wasnt looking to hear anything about the valves! lol
have you had to do a valve job on a 996? if so what were the costs??? i guess ill have to look into that next. i live in maine, anyone in the northeast that you can recommend sending me to?? |
