997 Trans problem
The trans on my 2005 997just locked in third as I was attempting to shift to fourth. The lever is just loose now and obviously not connected to the tranny anymore. It's under warranty so I'll have the dealer pick it up next week but my question is does anyone have a suggestion on a quick fix to make the car drivable. Thanks

RE: 997 Trans problem
Sounds like a shift linkage issue. You'll have to get that car up on a lift to remove the underpanel.
Any Porsche people in your area? Dealer? That's a bummer for sure. |
RE: 997 Trans problem
Thanks, that's what I figured. I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

RE: 997 Trans problem
If the car had not been under warranty, I would have suggested checking out the lever linkage under the centre console, but as it is, dont play with it and give the dealer an opprtunity to say you have compromised the warranty.

RE: 997 Trans problem
Thanks Bob, I had to restrain myself from going thru the console for that very reason. This dealer is pretty good and I don't anticipate any problems. They will need to put it up on a flatbed and since its locked in third we'll have to hold the clutch in to move it. I'll be sure to be there when that takes place.

RE: 997 Trans problem
Just got car back from dealer, it was a broken shift cable which they replaced with apoligies.

Do you know Cecil, that true happiness can be when a problem is solved.
