Airbag light
 

Hi I have a 99 carrera and no owners manual. LAst night I was driving home and the red light with the airbag symbol went on. It still hasn't gone off. What does this mean? Also the light for the rear spoiler comes on but goes off after about 10 seconds. Also sometimes when I fill up with gas I get a display on the dash that shows the oil as being low. When I check the oil it is full. Any help would be great

Sounds like you need to go to a dealer or independant shop who has a PST2 and get the fault codes read out.

You have probably resolved your problems since your post is 6 months old, but the 99's and probably a few years later had a chronic airbag light problem. I know of one bought back by Porsche in 2005 ( 6 years old 0 under Cal lemon law because dealer could nt fix after 3 tries. I understand there was a mfg defect problem affecting a solder joilt on a circuit board.

On the spoiler light, I disconnected my spoiler which causes light to come on at start and then it goes off. Spoiler goes up at 70 and won't go down until 30 and severely blocks rear vision. I saw someone post that they heard of moving the spoiler switch to the dash which would make it manual

I know exactly what the problem is. I had the same problem with my 99 carrera. There is a sensor in the seat belt that can trigger the air bag light. If you take it in you can have the codes reset. If it comes back up, you will need to get the sensor replaced in your seat belt housing. Luckily, I just had to get my codes reset. This is very very common.
