Best Start Up Procedure for 911

Does anybody have advice on the best start up for our 911s? The manual says not to idle for too long. Several options : Option 1. warm my 997 up to operating temp (80 deg C) before moving off. Be gentle until the oil temp is up to 90 deg C before loading the car. Option 2. warm up the engine until oil temp is up to 90 deg C, which takes 10 minutes. Option 3. Enough idle to get the cats warm then treat it gentle until the oil temp shows. Thanks

Look: don't obsess. Its just a damn car. Make sure it is serviced as specified in the owner's manual. Then, just treat it normally. If Porzche engineering did their job (and they did), then you don;t have to treat this car with kid gloves. Just operate it and drive it as you want.

I don;t mean to be brutal, but it's just a car: designed to a budget, built on an assembly line, and pretty much like all the others. it is very high end, but all that means is that you have more reason than ever to pay attention to the factory's service schedule. Porsches are close to bullet proof if you take care fo them well.

The key point is to take care of it as the factory recommends.

Yeah...don't sweat it.
Sounds like you're wasting your time and fuel with way too much warmup time.

Any modern car is pretty much the same...
Start and go.
Just don't nail it for the first few miles until everything is warmed up a little.

Thanks for the response, albeit more passionate than I felt about the question.

The guys said it good. Start the car, drive at normal low rpm driving until the engine comes to operating temp, then you can lay into it. If you are starting the car in 30 below zero weather, then yes, let the car idle for awhile, then drive low rpm until the engine warms up, and then you can get into it.
