Burnign Oil?

I am new to the forum and have been doing a bunch of reading recently.

I bought my 996T with 22,900 miles about 5 months ago. I now have 27,900 miles and the message saying to consider my engine oil level came up the other day. I thought the fresh oil change at the time of purchase would take me 10k... should I just add oil or get the oil changed after only 5k?

If I should add should I find out the weight my dealer used and add the same or add a different weight? Which weight? How/Where do I add?

Thanks for the help.

I do not like to go past 7500 on oil changes in these cars. It is considered normal usage to add a quart of oil every 1000 miles. 0w-40 or 5w-40 are recommended.

Frankly, I'd change oil and filter every 5000.

Add the weight and type specified in the owner's manual. The factory knows best. If you don't know, assume the dealer followed that advice, too.
