Buying a 2009 911
 

Hello members,

This is my first post. I don't own a porsche, but I'm about to buy a 09 911 (S or non S is to be decided after a test drive). If there is a porsche 911 buying how-to guide, please point me the way.

I'm buying this as a toy car, not a daily car. My main question is on price. I've heard that porsche dealers usually do not offer discounts off sticker, especially for a highly demanded car like this. Is this true? I've called around a few dealerships, even a few out of my area (I'm in the Bay Area), most say no discount, but I got one who said perhaps (that's a yes in sales terms). What has been your experiences in this area? For new models.

I've always bought cars, not even finance, I just buy it outright. This time, being a toy car which I'm not sure if I'll keep for 5 or so years, I'm open to lease. I was told by a dealer that the residual is non negotiable, that whatever the lease term is, it just is. This sounds like BS to be. Can someone give me a story about your leasing experience?

I was in the same boat and I just leased a 08 c3s. Here is what I did:

I went on the Porche website and executed a dealer search. Your situation is a little more difficult as there are not many 09's built and in the States. But I did an inventory check and emailed three dealerships about existing cars. I then negotiated with all of them to get the best price. The car that I was most interested in I did not call on. Rather, I went to the local dealer with the deals in hand from out of market and had them execute a dealer swap on the car I wanted. Without the threat of an out of market purchase, they would not likely have cut any sort of deal. The dealer demos that will first be available are the dark red...not my favorite color.
Porsche finance sets the residual at 55% of msrp....which, with these cars, is pretty fair.
