Clutch

I'm a newb to Porsche 'cause I don't actually have one but my roommate owns a 1990 911 Carerra 4. I'm an ASE tech and now work as a service consultant at a Hummer dealership. I have ABSOLUTELY NO WRENCH TIME on Porsche's but he asked me for some help with replacing his slipping clutch. He's pretty handy so I'm sure he'd help out but his skills are somewhat limited so I know I'd be doing most of the work if I were to help out. Before I give him an answer I wanted to find out as much as possible about the job. I can't tie up a lift at work for a few days on a side job so I'd have to do it on ramps in my own garage. Is that possible? Is it necessary to lower the engine in order to unmate the transmission? If so, does the whole powertrain sit on a cradle that bolts up to the underside of the car? Does it require any special tools? I have a full mechanic's toolset with air compressor but I'm not sure if Porsche's have any special clutch tools because I've never worked on one. I'd honestly rather not start now but I'd like to help him save a lot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
