Cold no start

I also have a no start problem when engine is cold. Engine cranks just fine. When I prime the air intake with starting fluid, starts right up and runs fine.

Next day same no start, I don't prime the intake but have a friend jump my battery and it starts right up.

Battery is brand new, alternatator is charging @13.7. 82 911 SC converted from a 2.7 to a 3.0 a year back, so I'm told?. Before my brother passed away he hooked up his laptop to the ECU and started fiddling with God knows what and the problem started.

Any ideas? Or should I call an exorcist http://forums.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/rolleyes.gif

Sounds like cold start valve if its a CIS system

Hook up with his laptop? I am assuming he has done a fuel injection conversion running a standalone ECU? 2.7 or 3.0's did not have ECUs. 3.2's had ECU's, but not anything you could plug a laptop into.

Thank you both for your replies. I was an auto mechanic for 10 years, but only on domestic cars. My brother passed away last month and left me his 1982 911 SC. I put in a new alternator and it's now charging corrrectly. There's a emblem on the engime compartment cover that reads 2.7. Here's some photos of the engine and the ECU which is under the passenger's seat with a USB cable attached?? I too, thought of a cold start valve or injector, but with German cars I'm at a loss. The only way I can start it in the AM is by having it jumped by another car or priming the air intake?? Does CIS stand for Closed Injection System ? Does the cold start valve similiar to an regular fuel injector?

Thanks

I found a little box behind the passenger seat that says megasquit written on it and I checked his old laptop with a program called MegaTune 2.25 if that helps any.

Oh boy that looks like a mess. It has definitely been converted to EFI with the megasquirt system. The megasquirt system is basically a poor man's way of creating a stand alone ecu system. Best advice I can give you is to get it to someone who knows how to tune the megasquirt system.

I was afraid of that :( Thanks Doc.
