in dash audio system

Just picked up a used 2002 911 Carrera Cabriolet and found that there is a 6 unit cassette deck below the radio. I thought it was a cd player until I opened it!!! I'd like to change this out to a cd player - is that possible? I've searched for the in dash install kit and see that there is nothing out there that I can find. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd prefer to just change out the cassette for cd - but would change out the entire in dash receiver unit if that's necessary......Thanks:(

I believe there is a cd player built into the head unit. Can't tell without seeing it, but the faceplate should open up to access cd slot.

Good luck,

Kevin

Congrats on your "new" ride. I also have a stock '02 911 Cabwith a CR-220 radio (am/fm/cassette). There are 4 cassette holders below the radio and they look out of place. You can purchase a new Porsche radio but I think they run about $1ooo. Luckily, mine came with a 6-cd changer in the trunk [sm=icon_rock.gif]
