Dumb question from a noobie
i just picked up an '03 911 but it didn't have an owners manuel. i've got one on order but i have a question about the oil pressure/level gauge on the far right instrument cluster. at idle, where should the needle be? the numbers go from 1 up to 5 and when i'm running, its up all the way to 5 or 4 if i'm not pushing it. my guess is that this is a pressure reading but i just want to know for sure. i took it to the local dealer but the kid inside at the time didn't instill me with a lot of confidence.
thanks! jeff |
RE: Dumb question from a noobie
Typically it will be 4-5 when cold, and at warm IDLE will be around 2. Crusing down the road it is going to be up around 4 depending on your RPMS.

follow-up question for a 996TT: what if it sits basically on 5 on the highway, cruising speed 100mph? problem? also, at what point should i add oil? when i measure the oil, it's at about half now.
