First 911 looking for information

I am looking to buy my first Porsche and looking at the 2000-2003 Carrera. Can anyone tell me the major difference in these years if there is any at all?

They're close enough that you really have no differences at all. This is right in the middle of the 996 series production and although there were slight changes in HP rating, etc, style of wheels, etc., they are insignificant: I'd get an earlier car in good condition over a later one in less perfect shape. The earlier cars in that range will be going on ten plus years and, even if low mileage, will start having some issues that mean you really have to stay on top of weekly inspections for anything coming close, hoses cracking, etc. Porsches are durable but not designed to handle neglect, and 996s are really good cars: I had a 2004 for four years and never had a problem - but it was new when I bought it. Just make sure its in good shape when you buy, keep it in good shape, and watch like a hawk for early signs of developing problems and it ought to do great.

So if going to buy used is there a inspection process? Or list out there?
