hood light switch - where is it located?

My 99 C2 has an intermittent problem with thehood lightwhich seems to have a mind of its own ... it will work for a few days and then decide not to light up after that. I've replaced both the bulb and the housing and have the same problem. Can someone please let me know where I can find the switch that controls thehood light? I'm thinking the switch may be the root problem and would like to investigate.

Thanks in advance.

I looked in my piece of crap service manual wiring diagrams and unfortunately can't even findthe light or switch. Is it possibly a mercury type switch in the light itself? BTW manual is WorkshopManuals.co.uk.
You can look and look for anything in this manual then you wind up just figuring it out yourself.

RE: hood light switch - where is it located?

The bulb is just standard bulb which is the same as the one used in the engine compartment. I checked the link you provided and it does not offer a manual for 996. They have manuals for older 911s and Boxster. I'm wondering if the Boxstershares the same electrical schemetic as the C2 considering they share the same front end....
