New and confused
 

Here is the scenario guys/gals. I am buying a 2006 or 2007 911 cabriolet in December of first part of January 2011. I live in the south and plan to buy the car in California or Nevada and make a nice road trip through the mountains in Colorado, New Mexico etc.... with my Dad. With the emmissions in Ca. I was wondering if I should stay away from the California model????? What is the deal with the Carerra S, 4, 4S, etc..... I want one with the lowest mileage of course in the low teens to be honest is my target. I love the new Spyder and can get one much cheaper than a 911 but am concerned that it won't perform as well and the storage is very limited. Please any comments are welcomed. One more thing; I only live in the US about 4 months out of the year (not consecutive) and only want it as a play toy. Thanks everyone in advance.

All US delivered Porsches are the same, there is no difference between a car sent to california or anywhere else.

From a value standpoint do you think the new Spyder is a better buy than the 911. The boxter always had poor performance but he Spyder and the Cayman appear to have the same motor and perforance specs. I love the new spyder look.

I really like the 997 line, and I really like the cayman. I haven't had any experience with the new spyder yet, so I can't comment on that. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them IMHO. The cayman is kind of nice as you have a trunk in the front, and the hatch in the rear to haul stuff, so you can fit a lot more things in. The downside of a cayman is it is only a 2 seater (a lot of people like the 911's because they can shove their smaller kids in the back seats).

Thanks for the comments; I like the Cayman as well but really like the extra seats in the back to not only haul kids but stuff in general. Doing a price comparison they are some very expensive seats but the 997 is a wonderful automobile. I have two teenage kids and could care less if they have to ride Indian style. I am buying it for myself as a treat for all the years of hard work. Thanks again.

I would get an '07 997 or later to capture the new IMS design.
