Default Bought new 911

I am trading in my trusty old 1999 911 CAB. The car has been virtually perfectfor me. I boughta 2007 911 CAB. A little more equipment like GPS but still a very basic car. The 997 variant is better but not overwhelmingly better than the 996. I still love my 996 car.

I also drove a new Turbo Porsche CAB. It was nice but honestly not as exciting as i expected. It is not as good as some of the other cars in my stable, impressive but not inspiring. The power crono option is very nice.I gave a bid on the car but was not sucessful. I personally liked the base 911 better. I already have fast cars so not a niche I need. The car is stunning to look at. i could not take my eyes off it.

My surprise was how well the new 2008 base Corvette drove. The new steeering system makes the car drive well with very good road feedback. The power and shifting have been improved also. I was surprise and i think it is on par or sligthly better then the 911. The only negative I felt was on modest corning the back end felt "puffy". Ths was a Z51 equipped car.

Although the Corvette was half the cost I went for the Porsche instead. My Porsche has been trouble free and I have so many bad (old) memories of GM cars I owned years ago. I still must admit the car felt awesome. The Z06 was amazing, if i could get one in a convertible I would have gone that way. NowI will not say bad thing about Corvettes. They have gained a little respect from this tainted European car buyer. The Ford GT I bought last year is the first american car I have bought in decades. it is a fearsome and wonderful supercar.

I am still a Porsche guyfor my daily driver at least this time around.

Default RE: Bought new 911

I was in a 2008 Corvette last night and thought that the fit and finish as well as the materials were poor -- they reminded me of a Solstice...not my cup of tea after between a German car owner fpr 15+ years but, to each their own...

By the way, enjoy your new ride, it sounds great!
