Porsche 0-60 Question!!??
Does ANYONE know what the 0-60 time is on a automatic 1999 or 2000 Porsche Carrera hardtop?? Please anyone with insight, I have looked all over the internet and not been able to find the times for the automatic version of the car.
That would be an early model 996, right? With an automatic - Tiptronic? And by hardtop you mean just the normal coupe, not the covertible with its hardtop bolted on, right?
I have a later model 996 (320 HP) with the 5-speed Tiptronic. Its recorded a 1/4 mile in 13.48 at around 105 at the strip. That corresponds to a 0-60 time of around 5 seconds. That said, the car feels more like 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, and like it then makes it up at the top (it really accelerates well from 40 on up). A G-Tech acceleration logger gets it at 5.25 but these are accerate only within about .33 second one way or the other.
Regardless, Porsche claims 0-62 mph (i.e., 100 km/hr) in 5.2 seconds, and 0-100 mph in 12.0 seconds, for the later 996 lTiptronic like mine (in the owner's manual), and their claims are usually reasonable and do-able by the average driver. I don't think the HP difference between earlier and later 996s is significant. I'd say 0-60 is somewhere between 5.0 and 5.5 seconds.

Yes, I mean the early model 996 coupe. I am not sure if this car comes with tiptronic though. I thought that was started in the later models of the 996.

Again, 5.0- 5.5 second range, with my expectation being closer to 5.5 secs.
