Default 996 engine

I'm sure this has been discussed at length in other forums but I couldn't find a recent discussion on this topic. I just traded in a 2000 Boxster for a 2000 C4 Cabriolet from a local Porsche dealer. It is a one owner car with 37,000 miles and has been maintained flawlessly with service at the dealer every year or 3,000 miles.

I have read a lot of stories about engine failures in the 3.4L engine. My question is now that the car is 11 years old would it already have failed by now if it had that problem or because of the very low miles is there still a risk?
