Retro body conversion on 80s 911

I am very interested in converting my 87 Carrera exterior toa 73 Carrera appearance. The early cars are difficult to find and generally quite expensive if a Carrera. I have always loved the look of the early cars and wondered if anyone has done this conversion, parts neededto do it and the degree of difficulty. My intent would be to leave the interior and drivetrain as it is.

I would go to an RSR coilover suspension, ditch the torsion bars and side skirts/rocker panels. The ducktail is pretty easy to find on the aftermarket chain, not sure about finding an original porsche tail.

I've got a customer who converted an 85 IIRC to an RS clone, which is incredible. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures.

There is a good article in the February 2008 Edition of "Total 911" on someone who has done just that. See www.total911.com to read on line version. Guy is Mark Slade, who isan aquaintance of my son Matthew. Take a look.

The July 07 issue of Classic Motorsports has a great section called "Attack of the Clones", 911 RS ans RSR clones. Wayne Dempsey and Jack Olsen's cars are shown along with others.. Might be something you'll find interesting if you're planning on doing a conversion...[/align]
