short shifter kits????

I have been looking at the B&M and EVO short shift kits for my '99 C4. I am leaning towards the B&M.
Any advise????

Save your money, I have the B&M in my 97 993... very little difference if any at all!

I installed the B&M short shifter and the EVOM linkage last week in our '01 911 Turbo. It is OUTSTANDING. I love it and two of my friends who test drove it also love it. You now can feel feedback from the gearbox making shifting much more reliable. There is NO slop in the shifter. We removed the chance of breaking the plastic parts in the stock shifter linkage to avoid getting stuck in a gear (during a hard shift) and limping home. The shifting with the B&M short shifter is infinitely more refined: crisp and clean. You can feel and hear the clicks shifting from gear to gear. Much more confidence in finding your intended target gear. We believe this should become the stock shifter for Porsche.

There are some that do not like the B&M short shifter. I won't ever be without one.

I know this is an old thread but perhaps I can bring it back to life with a question???

What is the "EVOM linkage"? When I do a search on the net I end up at a Mitsubishi web site. I would like to purchase the B&M short shift linkage for a 2003 911 but want to be sure I order everything I need.

Where is a good source for this?

Thanks!

The evoMS billet shift link is a machined CNC piece that is designed to prevent failure at the shift linkage. The stock piece is a plastic ball and socket type of joint, and the plastic ball will crack and the shifter linkage will come apart, leaving you stranded. The billet piece will not fail like that. I am a subdealer for Evolution motosports (evoMS), and actually just installed a billet linkage on thursday. It by itself does not shorten the throw or anything. A B&M short shifter will do that.

In response to the fellow who said to save you money, the 993 and the 996 shifter setup are COMPLETELY different. The B&M on the 993 does not hardly shorten the throw at all. The B&M on the 996 shortens it to a true short throw shifter. Night and day.
