Should I reconsider this potential purchase or not?
So I recently posted that I put a deposit down on a 2001 turbo w/5,300 miles on the clock. I flew about 1,800 miles to go see it and confirmed that this is one mint condition car. The last thing I told the dealer I wanted to do was a ppi at Porsche before it was a done deal. Yesterday I got a call from the svc rep at Porcshe that said the car was meticulous but they noticed a tiny amount of seepage coming from the timing chain cover, and the Porsche guy said he would rate it a 1 out of 10. I am purchasing an aftermarket 3yr/36k mile warranty that covers everything but the timing chain cover unless it is a lubricated part from within. The guy at Porsche told this was nothing to worry about. I would like to hear your guys two cents on whether or not it would sway your descision? Also would this not be covered under my warranty and it must be a lubricated part from within if its seeping, correct?

Not sure what you're paying or what your warranty covers. I would negotiate the cost of repair into your purchase price.

If everything checked out, it's in mint condition, then I agree with cmilam. Ask the dealer to pay for the repair. Reputable dealers make good on repairs before selling the car. Every warranty is different, that's why you have to read the fine print. Yours should say weather its included or not.

Hi
Take the attitude that if it is minor issue, then it will not be a big issue for the Dealer to fix before you take delivery. Regards Big Bob |

I agree. If it is covered under warranty, let the dealer exercise the warranty option and have it fixed, otherwise, he should fix the car before hell sells it. The other option is to get an estimate on the cost and take that amount off the selling price.
