Tires-1971 911T

I'm about to get my 1971 911T on the road after 25 years of it sitting in a garage. I'm thinking of putting Falken Ziex ZE-912 (225/60HR15) on the rear and (215/60HR15) on the front. Does anyone have an opinion on the tire manufacture....I have read reviews and they all seem favorable...more importantantly does anyone have an opinion on 225's on the rear and 215's on the front. The car current has Pirelli 205's all around.

jrstackpole:
I've had several 911s of your vintage (5 from '66 to '74 over 40 years) and noticed that at highway speeds most tires caused a slight vibration in the steering wheel. I even had one set of Dunlops shaved round which worked beautifully but cut the life ot the tires to 8K miles total. I couldn't believe how out of round they were until I watched them get shaved. New balancing machines have greatly mitigated this, but the first time it completely went away (other than the shave job on the Dunlops) was when I switched to Michelins. I have not tried Yokohama tires and admittedly the last time I owned a car of your vintage was about 5 years ago. However, I recently drove a 997 when I contemplated buying it and noticed the same symptom. It did not have Michelins or Yokohamas but I can't remember what they were. I think Continentals. I later drove a 997 with Michelins and no vibration. I bought the car and will not have to replace the fronts for 10-15K miles, but the rears are going to have to be replaced within 5K miles. I'm contemplating Yokohamas and hope someone will be able to advise us on their use.
