Unknown 996 Cab. - Can anyone help ID?
 

Hello there. Some of you may remember me posting a strange 930 a while back. As you chaps were so helpful last time, I immediately thought of you when I saw this red 996 Cab. the other day. Those air-intakes in the rear wheel-arches are obviously not the same as a normal 996 Turbo's, but at the same time I can't find an instance of them appearing on a regular 996 Cab. Turbo or otherwise. Any Porsche enthusiasts able toprovide me with the simple explanationon this one?

Hm, not sure, someone has obviously grafted in some ducts. It definitely isn't a turbo as there are no slots in the bumper for the intercoolers, but maybe it is supercharged, and they installed ducts to get some cold air into the engine bay for the air intake. Just a guess. It definetly has a Getty design rear deck lid/spoiler.

Thanks for the info. But that seems like a whole lot of work (and really professional at that) for what it acheives. Yeah, those spoilers are everywhere here. Check the link in my sig to be certain of that. Now, to me it looks exactly like the craftsmanship on a 993 Turbo S intake if that helps whatsoever. I am still baffled.

Looks like a Body Builder modification. Rear Spoiler also reminds me of Gemballa styling.
But Forward Rear Wheel Arch Ducts look like nothing I've seen before.
