which would you rather have

Would you rather have a Porsche 996TT or a Ferrari 360 ? Been thinking about selling my 2003 996TT tiptronic to get a Ferrari 360 spider or coupe with the F1 ...

I think Ferraris and Lambos are cool cars, and I have driven many, but I wouldn't want to drive one every day that is for sure. Porsche has always been a driver's car, where as the more exotic cars are meant for a sunny day.

If I was not paying the bill I'd rather have the Ferrari. The amount of time that you can drive any car on any road fast enough to see or tell the difference in capability between, say, a Ferrari 360 or whatever, and a TT (even a 997TT) are rare. Whereas the Ferrari has the style, the sheer rarity and "presence" all the time. Assuming the 360 will run reliability, I'd pick it.

Problem is, Ferraris are a pain the butt. I owned one once upon a time, one of the best in fact, a '66 275 GTB back before they become million-dollar icons. Fragile, fussy, no low end torque, constant small problems, impssible to keep in tune, but God, it was gorgeous and it sounded better than anything else on the street.

Yeah, I know -- that was 40 years and I was young and stupid, and maybe Ferraris have gotten better over time, but so have all other cars you can own, too, including Porsches: but trust me, a '66 427 'vette was a far better car in every respect except styling.

Why are you selling your Porsche? I'd rather have the TT! It's more of a loyalty thing.

Keeping in mind reliability, and what it would be like to drive on a daily basis, I'd rather have the Porsche. As an old vette guy , I agree with Lee about the ā€˜67, 427. Having owned one and a ā€™65, 327/365, Iā€™d go with the ā€™65 for driving pleasure over the '67. Some cars were not really suited for everyday driving, case in point the Ferrari.

never said it was a daily driver.... I drive a range rover for everyday use... granted you can drive a Porsche more often then a Ferrari... but the Ferrari is MUCH more exotic looking & feeling.

You did ask which we would rather have, we gave our opinions, and the reason for them. Maybe the Ferrari is better suited for you.. I'm sure it'll make a great weekend, sunny day ride.

It's okay with me however anyone thinks and whatever anyone buys. If everyone bought cars for rational reasons there would be no Ferraris or Porsches or even convertibles for that matter.

Some people just like to own a Ferrari and never drive it, and I think a lot of exotics are designed and made with that market in mind. I can't criticize: those cars are essentiallyart -- something you buy just because it has beauty (outside styling, under the skin in engineering), because I have about a Ferrari's worth hanging on the walls of my house and I never do anything with it but look at it.
