Wrecked 2003 996TT

Someone ran a red light and hit the passenger side of my car with the front of theirs. The damage starts about mid-way through the door a continues to the rear bumper. Also, the passenger rear wheel is tilted and that wheel is cracked. I am not sure if the frame is bent and not sure of the condition of the motor. But, the motor did start up after the accident.

The first body shop I took it to says they won't fix it. so, insurance company is taking it to another body shop.

So,my question is: What do I need to make sure they look at everything they need to when determining if the car is repairable?

Any other thoughts you may have would be helpful.

Very sorry to hear about your accident, tough to deal with I am sure.
What I would do is research the best body shop in town (normaly the most $$)viaporsche dealers, friends, etc...
Then I would take it there and get the quote of repairs. The shop you choose will probably have a solid reputation/high standard they would like to maintain.
The insurance company will do its own thing, as they all do, but it is the law that YOU choose were the repairs are done, not the insurance company. The insurance company will have to make up the diff. of their quote vs yours.
If somethingcomes up after the repairs are done, damage not noticed or took some driving to show up, the insurance company should cover this as well as long as it is related to the accident.

Hope you canturn this negative into a positive

Good luck

you are also entitled to compensation for the diminished value of your car (thanks to Carfax). this is over and above the actual repairs.

thanks doug. took quite a bit of checking for me to find that out. What I finally learned is that in texas, if it is third party, i get diminished value. so, that part is taken care of. Right now I am trying to convince the insurance company into buying it from me so I can go get another one.

Will see how that works out.

Porsche Diminished Value

Three things you should insist on when choosing a diminished value appraiser: 1) Hire an appraiser who is licensed in your state. 2) Hire an appraiser who is local enough to be able to testify before a magistrate if need be. 3) Hire an appraiser who will obtain five or six diminished value opinions from used car managers at Porsche dealerships.

There are a number of appraisal companies whose Auto Diminished Value reports are based on formulas that are easily refuted by insurance adjusters who use their own formulas. There is simply no disputing verified opinions of multiple Porsche dealers. Your cost should be around $250.
