RE: Hello?
My first car was a 73 914 2.0. The 73 and 74 2.0 models are really the ones to get. They replaced the 914/6 when is was phased out. They don't perform as well as that car but do feel much quicker than the 1.8 and 1.7 engines. After 74 US regulations ate up quite a bit of the 2.0's HP. Anyway the 73 and 74 cars are more desirable and tend to cost more. These cars can have severe rust problems (Floorpans, battery tray and etc.) I've seen the battery tray fall off. Many 914s were converted to dual webber carbs. These are generally worse than the original system. The European 914s were fitted with Dual Webber's so it should be possible to install them and get more HP. Many of the 914's parts are common to other VW cars. I once replaced my 914's starter with one from a VW BUS (Type 2 it think it was called). Most of the MODS that can be done to the 914 improve handling - which is already fantastic. There just isn't that much HP that can be mined from the engine.

Hello hello!
My little 914 is my very favorite car! It's away for the winter now ... but that just gives me more time to drive the C4!

RE: Hello?
Call Easy, a porsche salvage specialist @ (510) 653-3279 or Parts Heaven @ 510.782.0354, another porsche salvage yard. Both of these are located in the bay area. The main guy at Easy seems to be fond of 914s. If the car is going to cost more than 5-6k (including paint) to build then you will probably never get all of your money back if you sell it. (IMHO) You are going to end up with a car that doesn't have matching numbers and probably a salvage title. These cars can go down hill quick if they aren't given plenty of TLC - one without an engine would make me worry about other potential weak point of the car.

RE: Hello
Ok gents, I am Skarr. I just found this site as I was looking around for stuff for my baby, she is one of the sexiest 914s you will ever see, and she has stories. How can I add a picture on here? If you love the 914 then you will be able to see the love this one has gotten
