1979 928 Porshe. Gas mileage?
It sounds like it's a good deal, but I wouldn't get it for a first car. I myself am 17 and bought a 1977 924, and if you know them, they are probably 80% VW Audi, but it is still a pig hog. Now the 928, on the other hand, was made by Porsche themselves. So if you want parts, they are going to cost a pretty penny. In addition, the insurance for one of those (and a beginning driver) is going to be so high you won't believe it. The 924 costs a lot in itself for insurance, and it's a four-banger. I WOULDN'T recommend it as your first car.
What I would be suspicious of is why the price is so cheap. There VCM II must be some mechanical work that needs to be done. If it needs a new clutch, forget it. They are extremely expensive. If I was you, I'd save my money and buy something much newer. I'd get something like a 2000 Toyota Celica or something like that. Much more reliable, cheap to maintain, and cheaper to insure. |
