No Spark!

Ok, so finally the two cars into my shop, both 79s non turbos. The one I'm working on has the issue of no spark...I've put another coil in there with a known good one and I've replaced the ignition module (thats the thing behind the drivers side heaflight right?) with a known good one also, but still no spark. What tests can I run to source my problem? Could it possibly be a Crank Sensor issue? Does a 79 have a crank sensor?

Absolutely ANY input would be helpful...

One last note, I tested for voltage at the coil Key On Engine Off and I have 5 volts at the coil. Shouldn't I have 12 there? I know they have a low voltage coil but I would've thought I could have 12 there for start...

RE: No Spark!

Ok, so did some searching and it's probably the DME relay right? Well, great, I'll cjeck it and see what happens!...Quick question though....where the hell is it and what does DME stand for?

RE: No Spark!

Well, after some searching and some hard thinking I came to the conclusion that this car doesn't have a DME relay...because it doesn't ELECTRONIC fuel injection...I feel so very very stupid! I traced my problem down to two things

1, Aftermarket Alarm system with hidden kill switches all over the place - Tracked them down and removed the alarm entirely and re-did the wiring that should be connected.

2, The Distributor took a dump and needed to be replaced! Thank God for parts cars! Car is now up and running and purrs like a kitten...well, it will once I get off of my arse and get the timing right! LOL Whats the timing supposed to be at for a manual transmission vehicle?

All thats left now is to get the interior redone, I have deep red suede and black leather on order so once that arrives I can retrim the seats. Dash needs to be repaired - although I'm thinking I might wrap that in black leather and use deep red stitching, I think that will set it off nicely.

The stereo needs to be installed. I have grabbed off of the showroom a Clarion CD Player which will sit in there VERY nicely...as if it was supposed to be there. Some nice 6.5 components for the the doors and a pair of simple two way 4x6 for the rear panels. Clarion 4channel amplifier and a shallow 10" subwoofer and amplifier for the rear.

Once I have had my way with it it goes to see my detail guy for a new lick of color.

Where is a place I can source some clean looking wheels for this?
