Oil pressure troubles
 

Im looking at a 924 to buy, which is in nice condition, but there is one thing that worries me.
Everytime you shift gears the oil pressure light comes on real quick, now I know that it could just be a grouding problem, but if its not:

what is wrong?
how to fix it?

Well most likely it is not a grounding problem that is turning on the oil pressure light, it is the oil pressure sensor that is turning on the light. Did you pop the hood and check the oil level? That is the most likely culprit, low oil level. When you shift gears the oil sloshes away from the pick-up and therefore triggering the dummy light. The best indicator in the 924 is the oil pressure gauge in the console. When setting at idle there should be roughly 2 KPa/cm2 of pressure. When accelerating or reving the engine the oil pressure should rise accordingly, which at highway speeds should be between 5-8 KPa/cm2 of pressure. One problem that I did have with my 924 was that the oil level was correct, but another problem with the engine had caused the oil to be thinned out from gasoline contamination. The thinned out oil was too viscous and could not lubricate the engine.

So before you buy the 924 check the oil level and condition of the oil, does it smell like gasoline (bad) does it smell like antifreeze (even worse) or is it so black that you could take it out of the engine and refine it into kerosene?
