928 overheating after replacing water pump

Hi there....

Have a 84 928 that I have recently replaced the water pump and timing belt. I drove the car for about a week after the repair and put on about 400 miles when all of a sudden my temp gauge spiked out while driving. The first thing I did was replace the thermostat thinking that was the problem. Wrong! It only takes a few miles down the road and the gauge will just keep climbing. I noticed that the hose off the radiator on the passenger side(upper)is really HOT and the hose on the driver side(lower)of the radiator is cold. Also noticed the heater takes forever to blow warm air. There are no leaks or any loss of coolant in the system. I have tested the old and the new thermostat and both function as they should. Could this new water pump be junk? Please help?

Did you tension the belt correctly? Did you buy a knock off pump? If no heat from the heater it is likely that the water pump is not working.

Did you get the problem solved? If not you might have to bleed the coolant sytem like you would do on a 944. I have owned 944's and one 928 years ago. I remember doing the t-belt and the water pump on the 928 (84'), but I don't remember having a problem withit overheating afterwards. I plan on getting a 928 within the next year or two, I really missed that car. I,and probably everyone else too, would appreciate an update.
