1983

Im looking at a 1983 944 that is for sale in my area. I was wondering what are the main things i should ask the seller about the car. He's is asking$4000for it, but think i can get it down.
What are the main diffrences between the 83 and the other 944's. I have heard this is probably the least favorable year of 944'sbecause it is not as fast as the others and the interior is not as nice. Are there any other reasons? Is the car less reliable than the others.
My brother has a 1986944S. Is this car going to be noticablyfaster than a 83. Thanks for the help.

RE: 1983

I have another question.:eek:The car has these plastic covers to the left of the rear wheels. Are these just for protetion from rocks and things or is it somthing ells.

RE: 1983

The 83 is one of my favorite cars. It is lighter, and more nimble in the corners. Yes it does have a little less horsepower, but the NA cars are dogs anyway. Any minivan today will take it off the line. In the twisties, it is a different story.

They didn't make a 944S in 86, so he must have an 87 or 88. It will be a bit faster in a straight line.

The stone gaurds are around the wheels, they are a clear adhesive piece, and can be replaced easily.

sorry your right the car is an 1987. Im glad to here that the 83 is your favorite car. I hopefully will be getting one soon. I am a little disapointed how slow off the line it is, but the amazing handling will definatly make up for it. Thanks for the help.

Can a minivan really take a 1983944 off the line or are you exagerating?

I am not exagerating. Obviously a turbo or an S2, etc are different stories.
