1984 944 ?

Hey everyone, I am new to the forum and looking for some help. I currently own a 1984 944 w/ 22,762 original miles on it. I am the original owner, the vehicle is metallic black on black leather, 5 spd manual, suspension option from the factory, moonroof, and rear "Porsche" light in the center, foglamps, cookie cutter wheels, I just recently replaced the Dunlops's from the factory with Yokohama's (minor flat spots on the "old" tires). Car is all original and in mint mint mintcondition. I am debating whether or not to sell the vehicle. Ihave been a PCA member since I purchased the car in 1984 and have all paperwork/service work documentation on the vehicle. For the past 10 years I have driven the car approx45 miles/year (a 15 mile loop near my home to keep everything perfect and seals moist).I am wondering what is this vehicle worth? Is it worth selling? Any information/guidance would be great! Thank you.

Tom

RE: 1984 944 ?

I bought an '84 944 about 4 months ago with, believe it or not 10,700 original miles on it. It's India/Guards red with an automatic. The owner was asking $8500 and I gave him $7500. You could call ita "new" 23 year old car.The Porsche technician in my area, who ownes his own shop, says it's the nicest one he's ever seen. The car was being sold in an area/ state with a weak market for this type of car. I've been looking at same year 944s in Hemmings, PCA and local advertisements, just to get an idea of it's possible value, ( I bought it to keep however). If your car is as nice as you mention, with the original paint, I think you could eventually get at least $10,000 for it. Unfortunately, 944s don't have the resale value of 911s. You wrote black metallic paint. I only recall a non metallic black in '84. Correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: 1984 944 ?

Yes it is a metallic black. It has a deep black with a hint of brown in it. It is all original paint, no paintwork, no accidents. I did the belts and water pump at 12K as precautionary (1999? I would have to go through the paperwork) and change the oil 1 time/year. To hear of a 10K mile 944 is awesome, there is another garage queen out there similar to mine. Thank you for the info and congrats/good luck with your "new" 944 ;).
