1984 944 Sticky Doors

Hi, Both doors on my 944 are sticky to open from the outside. When I try to open them I have to give a pretty good tug on the door before it opens. But from inside it is no problem at all. Anything I should be looking at? Thanks!

Are you referring to the amount of pressure needed to pull the door handle arm/trigger, or the amount of force required to swing the door open?

The triggers pull easily..but the doors themselves seem stuck.

Shoot the hinges with white lythium (sp?) grease. You can get this in an aerosol can at Home Depot.

Thanks for the reply but it isn't the hinges. The latch mechanism seems to not quite open the whole way when the door is opened from the outside. If you open from the inside there isn't a problem at all. I was hoping there was a sort of setting or adjustment that i could set. When i depress the door trigger from the outside, I have to give the doors a good tug to fully release them.

Gotcha. There are detailed photos of the door handle assembly located in the 968 Door Handle Upgrade shown here...

I suspect the actuator arm needs to be adjusted. On the end inside the door there is a black plastic piece that screws onto the arm. This piece has a hole in the end and attaches to a mounting ball using a press fit (it snaps on). You may need to screw the black plastic piece up or down on the arm to adjust the pull. You'll have to experiment as I do not recall which way does what.
