2.7? Is it worth it?

First off I originally thought I had a 2.7L 944, now I am beginning to think I might not. Is there a good way to tell, like somethin on the engine or interior somethin not in 2.5Ls? I've tried the VIN but I'm not payin for a VIN report just to see.

Also, this is a late 1988 944, overall it is in good shape with a strong running engine with 111,000 with a rebuild at some point in the life of the engine. The exterior looks pretty nice, a good Alpine White paint job, and the interior is in very good shape. However there is a good amount of rust on it, the bottom rocker panels, a rear license plate light, and also some in the floor under the driver seat. I am willing to go all out and pay to have it fixed but will it be worth it? Now I don't want to sell my soul to have the rust fixed but I would at least like to try. Does anyone have an approximate guess to how much it would be to fix, even if you can just get me in the ballpark?
Advice?

Thank you very much,
Landen

RE: 2.7? Is it worth it?

If it is a 1988, then you do not have a 2.7L. 2.7L was an 89 model year only. You do however, have the higher compression NA engine, which had a wee bit more hp than the 87 and earlier engines.

A 944 with 110,000 miles, even in excellent condition is only going to fetch 3000-4000. The rust is a little disturbing, as all the body panels are galvanized, and shouldn't be rusting, which tells me the car has had a rough life.

If you pm me the VIN, i can tell you the specifics on the car, including some of the option codes.
