83 Porsche 944 starting problem
 

I have a 1983 944 that has been sitting for the winter. It ran fine when I put the cover over it last fall, but now it won't start.

Engine turns fine and fuel runs through fuel rail, but cylinders and plugs are are dry. What activates the injectors and what do I need to look for to get fuel into the cylinders?

Is the tach bouncing at all when you are trying to start it?

The tach does not bounce at all while turning over the engine, but the tach hasn't worked at all since I bought the car. I don't know if that factors into the equation.

What are we looking for with regard to the tach bouncing? What does that tell us?

The tach should get a signal from the speed and reference sensors. If there is no slight tach wiggle when cranking, it is usually an indicator of those sensors or the connections being bad. I assume your timing belt is still intact?

One thing to consider when cars sit, is that mice like to make homes and chew on wires.....
