944s engine in 87' 944?

I saw a 87' 944 for around 5000....its missing an engine...everything else is in good condition....is it possible to buy a porsche 944s engine and put it in just a 944?

A 944 without an engine, no matter the condition is worth tops $2000.

You can drop in a 944S engine in, you will just need the dme
