Default converte 944 n/a to turbo?

i am going to buy a 944, i am looking to put out some major power with it and have pretty much everything i am going to put on it planned out, just one little thing, nobody near where i live is selling a 944 with turbo they are all n/a, keeping in mind that i am already planning on buy a new turbo and all the pipes i need(becuase even if the car had a turbo i would need to get them anyway to handle extra pressure)alsoa cai intake, keeping that in mind, would i only need to find headers from a turbo 944 and an intake manifold or will i need more...

DONT put a turbo on a non-turbo car- unless you want to hear a big bang! The compression ratios wont let it work. If you are serious about putting a turbo in a na car, you will have to mill the pistons to the valve relief depth the whole way around the piston top-lowers the compression. Callaway did this to a few 944's in 1983. You know Callaway from the Corvette circuit, he also dabled in Porsche 944's a little. After you do that to the pistons, you then have to get forged rods to handle the boost- can be done with stock rods- as long as your not beating on it hard. You would be better off trying to find a used 951 (944 Turbo) because of the better suspension already in place and the better brakes-also already in place, and the stock 16" rims. You would have to change too many things on a na car to make it a turbo car. By the time you do all that changing, you could have bought a turbo car for much less.

Yeah! I agree buy yourself a turbo car if thats what you want. For lots of low end torque have you considered a 928?</P>
