Clutch Noise - Fan runs.
 

Hello to all, I recently bought my first Porsche and I love the car.
When I shift the gears mostly 1-3 I get a claking noise, depending on how I shift the car. If I shift fast the noise is there, if I shift slow there is no noise. The car was my fathers for the prior 6 years or so. He says the noise has been there the whole time.
Is this something to worry about? It is kinda of annoying hear it?

My 2nd question is yesterday while heading to the store I noticed the cooling fan was on and the temperature was not even warm yet. Today I checked on it and the fan starts to run about 3 blocks down the street when cold and stays on. The fan does not stay on when the car is shut off. Is this the temp sensor on the radiator? or maybe the fan relay? I am hoping its the sensor as the relay seems to be very pricey. Also according to the internet they made a 1985.5 and a 1985, how do I tell which year I have? There seems to be 2 different sensors one for each half year?

Remove the clutch inspection hole plug and see if there is any rubber inside the hole.These cars came with a rubber hub clutch disc,when the ruber hub fails it had a safety feature built in so you could get the car to a service center, thus the knocking noise,repair asap!! As for the fans,it sounds like the sensor insude the radiator.Usually if the relay goes bad the fans stay on until the battery goes dead!
Check the 13th number of the vin number, it should be either a 5 or a 7:
7= 1985 early model
5= 1985.5 late model
