Cost of Clutch Change
Hello to all,
I am wondering what the estimated cost to fixing the whole clutch would be, not alone but in a shop. How much should I expect them to charge me. The guys works with Porsches and Ferraris all the time if that makes any difference. I know the kit alone is around 800 so I am expecting 1200-1500, is it possible for 1200? Thanks ahead guys, |
RE: Cost of Clutch Change
No, not possible if they are charging book time. Book time is about 12-14 hours on an NA car, and about 18 hours on a turbo. Make sure you replace everything in there (I am guessing for 800, they are not including the clutch fork, which is about $300, and is usually worn enough that it should be replaced on higher mileage cars). On a low mileage car, the fork might be ok to reuse.
Make sure it all includes: Clutch Disc, Pressure Plate, Throw out bearing, 2 clutch fork needle bearings, fork, pilot bearing, 9 flywheel bolts, 9 pressure plate bolts, rear main seal, and the guide tube. |
RE: Cost of Clutch Change
I have a Turbo and paid $3500 to replace the clutch. The parts alone cost $1200, but that's for a "sport" clutch and every other component. It failed because a previous owner decided to reuse the fork, which broke. By the way, I would use a clutch disc with a spring center, rather thatn the original rubber center. It will last longer.
