DME and Sensors

Canthe speed and or top dead sensors be defective causing no spark? and if so how can I bypass them to test them?

Are they simply removed and reinstalled as long as the engine is not turned over at all?

OR is no spark all because the DME is deffective? My book describes how to test the DME and sensors when the engine is running.

Oh by the way yeas the coil is good.

Thanks for your help!

DME and Sensors

Check your DME relay- that is the usual culprit. The speed/reference sensors just tell the engine how far advance the timing curve. You do however need the to be set right for the engine to run though. Lightly glue a .9mm washer to the bottom of the sensors. when they hit bottom, tighten down the sensor block. Loosen the sensors and remove- take off washer and reinstall sensors. I know mine is not exactly at .9mm, but it is close and runs good.

I think they just bolt in and out.-1 screw per.

It definately wont run without both sensors installed and working.

I agree however, that the dme relay would be a more common problem.

Don't know of any good way of testing the sensors.

Good luck.
