Engine mods to a 84' 944?
Hey guys Im ripping my engine apart soon to fix a problem that Ive got. I figure I could do some engine mods while the engine is apart, or close to bein apart. Im not lookin to spend a whole lot of money, but what kind of stuff can I do while everything is torn apart? Thanks.
Oh and is it possible to bore out the throttle body without getting a new butterfly? Any other mods I can do that wont cost me a bundle as regards to everything else? Im new to Porsche all together so Im not so knowledgeable in this department. |

Not a lot you can do to an NA for power. You could cross drill and balance the crank which will help the engine run a bit smoother. Other than that, have fun in the corners, and when you can, upgrade to a 944 Turbo.

I have read before that you can swap for the 968 Crankshaft and rods to increase stoke. Call some of the salvage locations and I am sure you can locate a decently priced unit.
I prefer DC Automotive Other than that most of the mods for any 944 are tremendously expensive. I know speedforce has some very nice fuel management, but the gain per dollar spent is insanely low. |

I think you should do all the basics while you can, belts, pulleys, air filter, fuel filter, ect..

Port and polish. And besides, it's a fun and educational thing to do. Its the best gain/$ thing to do. I have a spare head laying around right now that I want to port match/polish etc, and mill the surface to increase compression, just for kicks. Have no idea if it will work though!
