Engine Mounts

I read somewhere that if a 944 vibrates steadily at small frequencies when at idle and smooths out at 1200 rpm, the mounts are likely the culprit. My car only has 50,400 original miles and have this characteristic. I'm just wondering if anybody had the same experience, and should I go ahead and invest on a pair of these expensive mounts, although I found a pair for $90 on eBay.

Yea, that sounds like motor mounts. Beware though, the cheap mounts are crap. Spend the money and get the porsche mounts, because it isn't a fun job to do.

RE: Engine Mounts

I'd offer that the german made motor mounts are fine, I've used both Porsche OEM and the OEM ones manufactured by Teile and Meyle, and there is no difference in them, aside from price. The cheap ones that some of the secondary parts suppliers offered in the past that were from Taiwan were complete junk and should be avoided at ALL costs, but Porsche contracted to both Teile and Meyle to make theirs, there is no difference aside from the lack of the Porsche part number on them (and you can even see where the part number has been removed on them). Karls right that you don't want to do the job twice, particularly on a 951.
