A few vacuum questions

Hi. I'm taking off the Intake manifold to do some work on the vacuum lines so I have a few questions about that. 1) can any of those valves such as the ISV be cleaned safely while I'm under there?. 2) I'd like to know if anybody can reccomend some less expensive vacuume lines and Idle line. Those stock pre-formed ones are dreadfully expensive in my onpinion. How about routing some new silicon type lines with metal fittings instead. 3) I heard that the Cam belt cover vent can be safely deleted with no problems, is this true?

Thanks,

RE: A few vacuum questions

[hr]No vacuum lines are going to be cheap and, if they are, you don't want to put them on the car because they work badly.

Good vacuum lines: http://www.lindseyracing.com/mm5/mer...=944VACUUMLINE

Yes, you can clean the ISV out with carb cleaner out of the car.

For vacuum lines, I would highly recommend just replacing the stock lines. They lasted 20 years, new lines will last the same. The problem with basic hose, is that they do not have the bends, and will kink. Been there done that. Replace everything once and be done with it.

IMHO the Lindsey kit is a waste of money. You can go to any auto parts store and get good black rubber vacuum line for about 50 cents a foot. It only takes about 15 feet to do the entire car.
