hot-wiring a 944?

the owners of the 944 i'm looking at buying lost the key.....first of all how difficult is it to get a new key?....and how much is it worth off the sticker price with a missing key? but, in the mean time, i would still like to drive it, so has anyone had to hot wire one of these? and how hard is it?

A porsche dealer should be able to get you a replacement key, but you must have the car's Vin number and title in your name. Shouldn't be more than 100 bucks I wouldn't think. Maybe not even that much. If the ignition has been replaced somewhere along the line and switched to a different key, then you would be SOL. You would have to install a new ignition lock assembly. Couple hundred bucks new, or usually there are a few on ebay floating around for 50 bucks or so.

Oh and you can't hot wire it (well you can, but it won't do you a lick of good), the steering wheel is locked and will not turn without the key, lol. Unless you are going to bust their ignition lock all to hell, and I doubt they would let you do that.
