I don't know.

I recently bought a 1884 944 for my wife. She drove it for a couple of days and all was well. Late one afternoon it refused to start. I asked around and and was told to spray a little gas into the carb. It started but cut off immediately. I was told it was a fuel pump problem. I came to the conclusion that it was maybe the fuel pump relay being that I was not getting current to the fuel pump fuse. I replaced the relay. I have current at the relay ( in the socket itself and the wire leading from it, still no current at the fuse or the fuel pump. But if I touch one of the small black wires on the relay I get a hum at the fuel pump.

does your tach bounce when you are cranking the car....it should move ever so slightly. If not, reference sensor problem.

RE: I don't know.

Those 1884 Porsche are pretty primative, especially with their carbs... the 1984 ones are a LOT easier to troubleshoot and come equipped with fuel injection. :)

Assuming you get the tach bounce Karl is referring to, I'd check that fuel pump relay and wiring again, it sure sounds like you have it pretty well isolated. Does it start when you get that hum from the fuel pump?
