Default little green light

Can anyone tell me what the little green light is in the console beside the
door lock rocker switch? 87 944s

There should not be a little green light there, sounds like someone added something aftermarket.

I have seen a photo of another 944 with the same light in that location, have no idea what it is for.

Here is a pic Doc, I have seen another 944 with the identical light in the same location.
Any ideas?

Yup, that is an aftermarket light install, probably for an alarm or radar system. Inserting the led in the middle of the plug is common practice for aftermarket stuff.

You don't by chance have the factory radar detector do you?
