mysterious yellow arrow on guages

i have a US version (MPH) 85.5 944 NA that has this small yellow arrow (pointing upwards) that comes on and off as i accellerate. i cant determine a pattern and cant find it on my owners manual. any ideas? TIA

I think it's telling you when to shift gears :>))

RE: mysterious yellow arrow on guages

actually, i thought of that thanks. but it comes on at odd RPMs (2500-3000-3500) with no distinct pattern, and it comes off when i lift throttle.. ive been enjoying my car for half a year already, and i thought id ask now (better late than never)

wouldnt it be crazy if what it actually meant was a low oil pressure situation and ive been neglecting it ever since i got the car?! appreciate your inputs, let me know please. thanks!

Yes it is the shift lift. It comes on at optimum shift point for maximum fuel mileage, which means very low rpm shifts.
