New to forums, quick question
Ok so from what I understand the 944 is a sohc, right? and the 944s is a dohc? if so, is the head from a 944s swapable with the 944? could I buy a 944 and put a s head on it?

RE: New to forums, quick question
You could do that with extensive work, it is not just a straight swap. Pistons would also have to be swapped for the S pistons as you would need the valve cutouts. Also......not worth the effort.

RE: New to forums, quick question
K guys got another quick question. I searched engine cleaning and I only came up with stuff for the 911 dunno if it would use the same routine or if anyone has some unique suggestions for cleaning out the engine/engine bay. I thought I would use the same thread cuz its the same noob with same dumb questions haha. thanks in advance all

RE: New to forums, quick question
I'm not sure if there is anything specific about engine cleaner for aluminum engines so I would look into that a bit but other than that I would cover the distributor cap, try to keep the plugs and wires dry and use a reputable engine cleaner.. For the tighter to reach spots like around the balance shafts, oil pump, power steering pump, etc I'd use a toothbrush to get into some of the harder to reach places... After you get the engine cleaned I'd look for oil leaking anywhere around any gaskets, etc...
hope this helps... |
RE: New to forums, quick question
There are bunch of different ways to clean the engine bay, some have good results using a power washer, others through other techniques. Simple green and a small toothbrush/scrub brush does wonders, I am personally a fan of brake clean, but you need to catch everything and dispose of it (as well as a case of brake clean costing you 50 bucks). I don't like using water much because of corrosion that could start in the electrical connectors.
